Cheryl Peat Nance is the author of Modern Real Estate Practice in Texas for the 7th through 15th editions. She holds a BBA degree from Texas Tech University, an MBA degree from West Texas State University, and an EdD in Business Education from Texas Tech University. Nance has been a real estate practitioner in Amarillo, Texas, since 1978 and began teaching real estate license-preparation classes at Amarillo College in 1985. She holds the Distinguished Real Estate Instructor (DREI) designation from the Real Estate Educators Association (REEA) and the Certified Real Estate Instructor (CREI) designation from the Texas Real Estate Teachers Association (TRETA). She served as the Instructional Coordinator for the CREI program in Texas from its inception in 1994 through 1999, is a past president of TRETA (1992 conference year), and was approved as a senior instructor for the Real Estate Educators Association. Nance is the owner-broker of the Amarillo-based Real Estate Investment Group and CJ Investments, a property management company. She is the 1995 recipient of the John Mead Faculty Excellence Award form Amarillo College and has received both the Don Roose Award of Excellence (1999) and the Lifetime Achievement Award (2009) from TRETA.
